I loved how excited the kindergartners were when they opened their gift of bird books today! Today they were able to identify all of the birds on the bird cards, so they received their very own backyard bird field guide. A big thank you to the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks' Wildlife Division for providing these for my bird-y kindergartners. These books will stay in the classroom until the end of kindergarten. The students may use them as a resource when writing in their journal. They are also handy when students finish their work and need something to do for a few minutes. They were thrilled to see many birds that they already knew!
