Pancake Day!

Pancake day is one of my favorite lessons of the year.
This lesson melds many kindergarten standards together.
Students learn about which animals give food for people:
dairy cows, bees, and chickens.  We talk about how wheat
is grown and ground into flour. They saw lots of different
foods that were made with flour. They learn about the tools
for cooking: tablespoon and teaspoon.  They understand
that when cooking you must follow the directions perfectly
or your recipe won't turn out.  We talked about being safe
by electricity and what to do if you get burned.  The best part
was eating the pancake at the end!  The kindergartners did
a great job!
